About Us

For the majority of Americans, the birth of a baby brings a joyful time of celebration for the whole family. The newborn is welcomed into the world with beautiful gifts, greeting cards, lots of pictures and visits from extended family and friends. Many times, the new baby receives such an abundance of gifts that there won’t be an opportunity to use all of the items received. Many of these new items of clothing, blankets, bottles, toys and other fun and useful things sit on shelves, in closets and tucked away in cabinets long after the baby has grown past their use. Moms wonder what to do with these brand new gifts and wish they knew how to get them into the hands of another mother who could use them.

Although most babies are born into joyful and secure homes, there are precious mothers and babies who find themselves in less fortunate situations. Too many mothers will bring their babies home to shelters or into very fragile financial circumstances. These babies will most likely come home in a hospital provided gown and be clothed and care for with second-hand clothing, blankets and bottles. For these moms, the joy that should be theirs at the birth of their child is too often replaced by a sense of hopelessness and anxiety concerning the future. Shelter workers report that these moms usually wonder if anyone beside themselves care about the birth of their precious child.

Moms Helping Moms provides a unique opportunity for mothers that have an abundance to reach out in love to moms that have very little. By donating their unused gifts, these fortunate mothers provide much more than material support to moms in need. They also offer the gift of hope and a chance to celebrate what should be a very joyful time filled with promise. When they receive these gifts of hope and encouragement, moms in need begin to understand that others consider the birth of their child to be a precious event and that others are celebrating with them, and wishing them the best in the future.

Moms Helping Moms is a totally volunteer charity. The volunteers receive the donated, new baby gifts, and assemble them into layettes and diaper bags filled with useful items designed to bring joy and support to moms less fortunate. Whenever possible, the gift will also include notes of encouragement from the donors, with the donor’s personal best wishes for the newborn child. Volunteer moms, acting on behalf of the gift providers, will deliver these gifts of love to mothers all across the United States.
